2005 WorldsJune 1-5, 2005
Prague, Czech Republic
This is the 3rd year the Worlds has offered a womens class, and the women did not disapoint. The street class saw 4 girl riders and the flat class had 7 girls.
The following is from the worlds website about the Street Class:
After a half an hour’s training the promised girls street finals took place. The four girls that entered were from Germany, Japan, USA and Sweden
Among the fair sex the most outstanding after two rides by one minute was Cory Coffey with her no hands, barspins or transfer from the spine to the side bank.
Second place, in spite of a second run nasty fall which required treatment, was won by Hiroko Matsumura who was showing off grinds on almost all that was available.
Third place was secured by the German Monce Stellwag for her 180 into disaster, feeble grind and other tricks. The fourth and last place fell to Annica Jonsson from Sweden.
Thanx to Annica Jonsson for sending the street photos in.
Thanx to Marie Meuret for sending in the following story and photos from flatland. If you have any photos you would like to submit email them to wofbmx@aol.com
Ok.the Worlds's finished again, the weather became crappy on Saturday morning and for the rest of the day the rain was pouring. We all thought the Flatland contest was suppose to be attended undercover, but,by surprised the Flatland area was first bouncy, wet by the water, made of piles of wood and not really looking after.THIS IS THE FLATLAND BMX WORLDS??? No one had the intention to ride on the floor, anyway after deception the organiser decide to held the Flatland contest on the street course. This year 7 ladies attend the Worlds from Europe mainly but also from Japan,Kei Takaishi who came all the way from the country of the raisin sun finished 1st place with a stunning round, the usual suspect Karin Bleile from Switzerland came 2nd with her quality smooth style, she is so confortable to ride in front of so many people,3rd place was taken by Stephanie Chauvel from France know also as Stephanie Guesquin, she became a wife last year, her round was really consistent and we can see where she is going with her riding, keep on,back again this year Irina Sadounik from Austria who finished 4th and this was well deserved,in a year time she has proved the evolution in her riding, well done.5th place taken by Marie Meuret.6th place Magdalena Hnilicova from Republic Czeck new rider and allready working on different stuff, nice one.7th place goes to Katarina Culkova also new rider and more than welcome to enter the Worlds, she was pulling some good track stand variation, well done for entering the contest. We hope to see you next year.
